In order to safeguard student privacy, the District complies with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) of 1974, the Protection of Pupil Rights Amendment (PPRA) of 1974, the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPPA) of 1996, the Children's Internet Protection Act (CIPA), the Privacy Act of 1974 and the Elementary and Secondary Educational Act (ESEA) of 1965 as amended by the No Child Left Behind Act (NCLB) of 2001 and the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) of 2015.

Annual Notice

FERPA: The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) affords parents and students who are 18 years of age or older ("eligible students") certain rights with respect to the student's education records. These rights are outlined in our Board Policy #8335 Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act - click here. Notice of this Policy is sent out annually to students and parents in each school's student handbook.

PPRA: The Protection of Pupil Rights Amendment (PPRA) requires written consent for certain pupil surveys, analysis and/or evaluations funded in whole or in part by a program of the United States Department of Education. The District complies with the PPRA consent requirements and Policy 2415.05 for certain pupil surveys, analysis, and/or evaluations.
