Suicide Prevention

Adolescence is a time of change, when young people may experience feelings of stress or hopelessness from many sources, including relationships with friends and family members and problems at school. Protecting the health and well-being of all students is of utmost importance to the Ocean City School District. All students will be expected to help create a school culture of respect and support in which students feel comfortable seeking help for themselves or friends. Students are encouraged to tell any staff member if they, or a friend, are feeling suicidal or in need of help.

Starting July 16, 2022

988 will be the new phone number for Suicide & Crisis Lifeline (formerly known as the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline). It will provide free and confidential emotional support to people in suicidal crisis or emotional distress 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, across the United States.

If you or someone you know is in crisis,
please call the Suicide Prevention Hotline at
988
and ask them to help you figure out what to do.
